Santiago inicia el capítulo 3 con una advertencia: Hermanos míos, no os hagáis maestros muchos de vosotros, sabiendo que recibiremos mayor condenación. Una advertencia que resulta extraña, sobre todo pensando en nuestro tiempo, donde no es tan fácil conseguir maestros, aquí podrían encontrar una justificación para evadir esta responsabilidad y privilegio. ¿Por qué esta advertencia? Por la falta de control que tenemos de nuestra lengua.

James begins chapter 3 with a warning in verse 1: Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we shall incur a stricter judgment. That warning seems strange, especially thinking about our own time nowadays, when it's not so easy to get teachers; here they could find a justification for evading this responsibility and privilege. Why this warning? Because of the lack of control over our tongues.
